The AERO SELFIE F405 is a standalone flight controller built for pilots who demand more than what a typical Betaflight-only board offers. It is one of the few boards in its size and price class that ships with full, native support for Betaflight out of the box — making it equally at home in an aggressive FPV freestyle build, a GPS-assisted cruiser, or a fully autonomous long-range fixed-wing or multirotor platform. If you have ever wanted one board that genuinely covers all three firmware ecosystems without compromise, this is a serious contender.

The processor is the STM32F405, running at 168MHz with 1MB of flash memory. This is a well-established and widely supported chip in the FPV world, with a mature firmware ecosystem across all three supported flight stacks. You will not run into firmware compatibility dead ends with this processor.

The IMU is the Bosch BMI088 — a 6-axis accelerometer and gyroscope originally engineered for applications requiring high vibration resistance and thermal stability. Unlike general-purpose MEMS sensors, the BMI088 was specifically designed to operate reliably across a wide temperature range, from -40 degrees Celsius to 80 degrees Celsius, and to maintain accuracy in high-vibration environments. For FPV and long-range applications alike, this translates to cleaner gyro data, better filtering behavior, and more consistent flight performance across different environmental conditions.

Altitude sensing is handled by the SPL06 barometer paired with the AT7456E OSD chip, giving you on-screen altitude and flight data readouts without any additional hardware. The microSD card slot enables full blackbox data logging directly on the board, which is invaluable for tuning Betaflight filters, diagnosing flight anomalies in INAV, or reviewing ArduPilot flight logs after autonomous missions.

Connectivity is where this board genuinely stands out for its size class. Six UART ports give you simultaneous connections for a GPS module, ESC telemetry, receiver, VTX, and additional peripherals without running out of ports. Ten PWM outputs mean you can drive a quad, a hex, or a fixed-wing with motor mixing and servo outputs to spare. The board also includes SBUS input, I2C for external compass or optical flow sensors, and USB Type-C for configuration.

Power management is handled by dual DC-DC BEC outputs — 5V at 3A for the flight controller, receiver, GPS, and logic-level peripherals, and a separate 9V at 3A output for cameras and video transmitters. These are regulated DC-DC outputs, not linear regulators, which means they maintain consistent output voltage without generating excess heat under load. The 9V rail is particularly useful for powering DJI O3 or O4 Air Units and analog VTXs that perform better at higher voltages.

The board accepts 2S to 6S LiPo input, covering virtually every mainstream FPV build size from small 3-inch quads up to large 7-inch long-range platforms. Physical dimensions are 36x36mm with standard 30x30mm mounting holes, keeping it compatible with the vast majority of current FPV frames. It weighs 9 grams.

This is not a beginner board in the sense of being simplified — it is a technically complete board that rewards pilots who know what they want to build and need a platform that can grow with them across different aircraft types and firmware stacks.
